An organic aspen twig, sustainably harvested from the shore of Lake Superior, cast into recycled 14 karat gold, and adorned with a spectacular sapphire. This whimsical, earthy design celebrates the symbolism of the aspen tree. What better tree to represent the love and commitment between two souls than the aspen, a tree that not only withstands disturbances, but has evolved to grow from them through a strategy of collectivism and facilitation. One of the oldest organisms in the world is a clonal aspen in Colorado.

Shown here with a natural and untreated, sky blue Montana sapphire, ethically mined using earth friendly practices from the Eldorado Bar of the Missouri River in Montana. This stone measures approx. 6mm and weighs in at 0.98 carats. Please note: we will custom source a similar stone for your ring after your order is placed, and can also find a sapphire in a different hue. We work with known origin, ethical sapphires from  Australia, Montana, and Sri Lanka. Sapphires occur naturally in a rainbow of different colours, and can be sourced in all shapes and sizes. We will follow up with specific stone options once your order is placed. The price listed here is for a centre stone up to 1 carat in size; larger stones may incur additional charges. Have another stone in mind? I would love to discuss your ideas with you! The inspiration: in ancient Greek mythology, Persephone is the goddess of spring, a sweet and beautiful maiden much admired by all the gods. After she is kidnapped by Hades, the god of the underworld, earth is plunged into darkness (winter), while upon her return the light is renewed (spring). Thus, Persephone symbolizes the shifting of the seasons, the turning of the wheel of life, and cycles of creation/destruction and rebirth/renewal.

Handmade in our goldsmithing workshop on the north shore of Lake Superior, in Canada, just for you.
