Symbolic Strands Necklace 3 - 14k North Star Diamond Charm & Garnet

The Symbolic Strands series is a series of beaded necklaces inspired by a visit to the Royal Ontario Museum with one of my daughters in April, where we saw incredible handcrafted necklaces from the 4th Dynasty of Egypt, circa 2613 to 2694 BC. As someone who deeply loves jewelry for its symbolism, meaning, and beauty; it was incredibly moving to see hand work that is over 4000 years old and more beautiful today than ever. 

Each of the necklaces in this series was created by hand, incorporating 14 karat yellow gold charms and tiny high grade beads. This one features a multi-layered diamond charm adorned with a North Star, handcrafted using ancient goldsmithing techniques and paired with tiny 2mm natural, faceted garnet beads.

The north star, also known as Polaris, is the brightest star in the sky here in the northern hemisphere. As such, it has guided humans as a navigational tool since ancient times. In a modern context, the north star also serves as a metaphor for internal navigation: guiding us with the light of our own inner truth; our highest self. 

Garnet is the birthstone for January and is known as an energy balancing stone, bringing either serenity or passion, depending on what is needed. Metaphysically, it is believed to encourage greater seld-confidence and bring luck in love and business, and to aid the wearer in letting go of old behaviour and thought patterns.

This necklace is choker length and measures approx. 15 inches from end to end and closes with a hand-forged hook clasp in 14 karat gold. Strung on metal wire. If you would like a longer necklace, you may add a 3 inch extender chain. All 14 karat gold components are post consumer recycled.
