Symbolic Strands Necklace 5 - 14k Sunrise Amulets & Pink Tourmaline

The Symbolic Strands series is a series of beaded necklaces inspired by a visit to the Royal Ontario Museum with one of my daughters in April, where we saw incredible handcrafted necklaces from the 4th Dynasty of Egypt, circa 2613 to 2694 BC. As someone who deeply loves jewelry for its symbolism, meaning, and beauty; it was incredibly moving to see hand work that is over 4000 years old and more beautiful today than ever. 

Each of the necklaces in this series was created by hand, incorporating 14 karat yellow gold charms and tiny high grade beads. This one features 5 tiny sunrises, handcrafted using ancient goldsmithing techniques and paired with tiny 2mm natural, faceted pink tourmaline beads.

The sun is symbolic of the divine spark, the great wheel of life, the sun rises and sets, drives the turning seasons, represents the endless cycles of creation and destruction, and is the source of all life on earth.

Metaphysically, tourmaline is a stone of inspiration, compassion, and prosperity. It is believed to balance the left and right sides of the brain, our logical and creative parts. It is also thought to increase receptivity and remove energetic and physical blockages. It can also be used as a shield to protect the wearer from negative energy. 

This necklace measures approx. 16 inches from end to end and closes with a hand-forged hook clasp in 14 karat gold. Strung on metal wire. If you would like a longer necklace, you may add a 3 inch extender chain. All 14 karat gold components are post consumer recycled.
